Current Establishment of Nursing Education Program

There are two forms of pre-service education in nursing; one is Diploma in Nursing and another is B. Sc. in Nursing. In addition to pre-service education, the scope of in-service (post-basic) education for building the capacity of nurses as nurse manager; nurse teacher; nurse administrator and nurse leader is available in 5 Colleges with 625 seats. These are College of Nursing, Mohakhali, Dhaka; Bogra Nursing College, Bogra; Fouzderhat Nursing College, Fouzderhat, Chittagong; and Khulna Nursing College, Khulna and Rajshahi Nursing College, Rajshahi. The scope for foreign students are (05 seats) available only in College of Nursing, Mohakhali, Dhaka.

 

About Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing.

 

This is a 02(Two) years course.

 

The B.Sc. in Post Basic Nursing and B.Sc. in Post Basic Public Health Nursing

curriculum of Bangladesh were revised in 1998. This curriculum has been implementing since 2001. The course consists of two years and designed for registered nurses who completed Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Midwifery / Orthopedics Nursing / Psychiatric Nursing and who completed Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery course. Curriculum is continuous changing process because of dynamic advancement of medical technologies, changing of disease patterns, nursing interventions, process and its scientific management as well as increasing the demand of the qualified nurses nationally and internationally.

 

There are 10 Government Nursing Colleges with 725 seats are operational and providing 02 years Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing course. There are 105 private colleges and institutes with 4370 seats operating in our country.

 

Eligibility for Admission :

 

Every expected candidate for admission, who wants to study in Government or Non Government organization, has to attend the admission test organized by “Director General of Nursing & Midwifery”. The government admission test is a mandatory prerequisite for any student willing to study either in Govt. or Non govt. organizations. Candidates passed in that admission test are eligible for Non Government colleges and Institutions.

 

Seat reservation for Male Students:

 

Government colleges have 10% reserved seat for male students and 20% in Private Colleges.

 

According that rule our college have 40 seats for female and 10 seats for male candidates.
