Current Establishment of Nursing Education Program
There are two forms of pre-service education in nursing; one is Diploma in Nursing and another is B. Sc. in Nursing. In addition to pre-service education, the scope of in-service (post-basic) education for building the capacity of nurses as nurse manager; nurse teacher; nurse administrator and nurse leader is available in 5 Colleges with 625 seats. These are College of Nursing, Mohakhali, Dhaka; Bogra Nursing College, Bogra; Fouzderhat Nursing College, Fouzderhat, Chittagong; and Khulna Nursing College, Khulna and Rajshahi Nursing College, Rajshahi. The scope for foreign students are (05 seats) available only in College of Nursing, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
About Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery.
This is a 03(three) years course. The institutional goal of this course is to produce competent nurses that will enable them for demonstrate the competency of using knowledge-based practice for provision of quality holistic client-centered nursing care to meet the needs/expectations and to promote, maintain and restore health of individuals, families and communities nationally and internationally.
There are 46 Government Nursing colleges and Institutes with 2730 seats are operational and providing 3-years Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery course since 2008. There are 309 private institutes and colleges are offering this course under Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council having 15490 seats.
Eligibility for Admission :
Students having a Higher Secondary (10+2) from any group or equivalent degree passed in the last 02(Two) years (SSC passed in the year 2017 and 2018, HSC passed in the year 2019 and 2020) can apply for admission. He or she also has to score 6.00 in the two examinations cumulatively. The minimum score of separate examination (SSC and HSC) is 2.50.
Every expected candidate for admission, who wants to study in Government or Non Government organization, has to attend the admission test as a mandatory option to study all govt. and private organizations organized by “Director General of Nursing & Midwifery”. Candidate scoring 40 or over marks are eligible for Non Government Institutions.
Seat reservation for Male Students:
Government colleges have 10% reserved seat for male students and 20% in Private Colleges.
